What We Did
We learned how to make fire with a hand drill and make string with a plant called yucca. We made Bannock Bread. We also went to the ropes course and learned how to climb. We went to the Franklin canyon. We went on a Community Walk. We made shields in Full Circle for all the tribes. We also learned how to share. And we made this web site!
We ended Full Circle with a community service project. We chose our community project because we wanted to beautify our community. We felt the way to do that was to rid the lawns of Silver Lake of dog waste. We have seen many careless and disrespectful dog owners leave the waste of their dogs on someone else’s lawn. A way to solve this problem was to give the owners an opportunity to pick up their dogs waste. Our Service Project was to make doggie bag dispensers out of used milk cartons. The bags were from a company that makes biodegradable bags out of corn husks. We cut a hole in the bottom of the milk cartons so the doggie bags could come out. The hole with the cap at the top of the carton would be where we would stuff the baggies in. We would hang the dispensers on fences, light posts and telephone poles around Silver Lake. We have not finished the project yet, though we hope to soon.
